Carved Stone object (hand grenade), Skara Brae

Stone object, ground. Ovoid with four ground pyramidal knobs at each end. There are four raised panels around the middle, each of five ground parallel ridges alternatingly horizontal and vertical in their alignment.

Length 92mm

This carved stone object was found in the fill of the passage which leads west from the ‘market place’ by the entrance porch to House 8, during the 1929 excavations.
