CMC Associates and 3D ICONS would like to thank all our content partners who have worked with us to help make the historic archives and recent 3D recording of Skara Brae available on Europeana and elsewhere. This has been a major joint effort by a great many individuals and organisations.

Skara Brae is a major national monument, managed by Historic Scotland (HS). It has a significant historic archive, held by the Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Scotland (RCAHMS). These two organisations will shortly combine to form a new body - Historic Environment Scotland. CMC Associates and the 3D ICONS have been greatly supported in this project by both HS and RCAHMS. In addition the National Museum of Scotland (NMS), hold many of the finds from the archaeological excavations at Skara Brae. The NMS has generously made a selection of these available to CMC Associates for 3D recording and 3D ICONS. As part of HS’s recording and management of Scotland’s monuments, the Scottish Ten project has worked with Glasgow School of Art’s Digital Design Studio to record Skara Brae and other monuments using the latest 3D survey technology. The results of this work were also made available to CMC Associates and 3D ICONS under license from the Centre for Digital Documentation and Visualisation (CDDV). CMC Associates was then able to post process much of this data for the 3D ICONS project.

The content made publically available via Europeana and assembled here will also be lodged with the appropriate national bodies noted above. These organisations also hold considerable further information about Skara Brae and can be contacted via the following websites:

Once again CMC Associates and the 3D ICONS Project wish to thank all our partners for their considerable support in making this content publically available via Europeana.
